ABOUT
Born 24 July 1972 in Kanagawa Prefecture, Kagemaru Himeno is a writer and illustrator who has drawn Pokémon cards since almost the beginning — and one of the very few who still does.
She began illustrating manga for Shueisha's Ribon Original in 1994. Her first Pokémon card art appeared in Jungle, the second set of the TCG, released in Japan in 1997. She has illustrated several hundred cards since, across nearly every era of the game.
Her style is unusually recognisable: bold, saturated colour against softly blended backgrounds. Beyond the cards she has produced work for Pokémon Tales and writes her own series, How I Became a Pokémon Card. She goes by the nickname "Himemaru".
