ABOUT

Born 23 August 1972, Hitoshi Ariga came to Pokémon with an established career behind him. He is a manga artist — best known for the Rockman Megamix series and volumes of The Big O, published largely by Kodansha from 1994 — and a game artist, having worked on character graphics for Streets of Rage 2 and Rockman & Forte.

He began illustrating Pokémon cards in 2011, with notable work in BREAKpoint and Chilling Reign.

His involvement runs deeper than the cards: he has designed Pokémon across Generations VI to IX, and was lead character designer on Pokémon UNITE.

His favourite Pokémon is Misdreavus, and he streams art as a VTuber.
